Report bird flu
This site cannot take reports. Bird flu is a notifiable disease, so it has to go to Biosecurity New Zealand directly.

0800 80 99 66Or report it online at report.mpi.govt.nz. Choose "dead or dying wild birds" from the list, then the type of bird you found.
When to report
- Three or more sick or dead wild birds in one group.
- Sudden deaths, or several sick birds, in poultry you keep.
- A bird with a twisted or tilted head, unable to fly or stand, or a swollen head.
What to tell them
Give as much as you can. Biosecurity New Zealand will get in touch if they need more.
- What kind of bird it is, if you know.
- How many are sick, how many are freshly dead, and how many birds are there altogether.
- Where it is, as exactly as you can. A GPS reading from your phone is ideal.
- Photos or video of the sick and dead birds.
Do not handle sick or dead birds
Leave them where they are and report them. If you have already handled one, wash your hands well and change your clothes before going near other birds. Keep dogs away from them too.
